When designing a building one
of the things to be considered
is sympathetic use of
materials. In many
contemporary, modern
structures that use concrete
and glass, stainless steel is a
natural companion.
The grey
tones and the mild reflection
of stainless steel
complements both materials
and can join them together
harmoniously. Stainless steel
lamp posts are a means of
tying together different
mediums in a modern canvas.
They provide light and they
provide form to the exterior
design of a building in a
unique way.
Stainless steel can be used in
traditional
setting too,
especially if the lanterns have
a more conventional look.
There is of course no reason
why mixing and matching of
styles cannot be achieved but
it needs a deft touch to make
sure it works. As lighting from
lamp posts is of course
outdoors, the image created
outside a location could be
completely different to the
interior décor. Gardens,
particularly, can be dressed
with this style of outdoor
lighting to great effect. The
lights can be used to
illuminate specimen plants or
to add to the drama of
another feature such as
statuary or beside a gazebo
or folly. They can also
form
the
uprights beside
decking to
ensure light to dine by or just
enjoying the twilight on balmy
evenings.
Making sure that vehicular
access and car parking
spaces are adequately
illuminated is another job that
well-installed lights can do. In
homes with more than one
car or in businesses with
multiple vehicles it is
imperative that the route can
be seen clearly by drivers.
